NewHouse Research and Design is a leader in shelter and storage innovation.
Since 1978, NewHouse R&D staff have built and tested numerous geometric
structures made of panels continuously connected along their edges by unique
edge connectors.
After many years in construction, we knew there had to be a better way to
build buildings. Panelizing is part of the answer. NewHouse Shelters combine
the skin, frame and interior wall in one structural panel. Panels snap and slide
together. Incorporating panels into regular geometric shapes dramatically
increases the strength and aerodynamic qualities of our buildings. This design
strategy reduces the number of parts in each building and also reduces the total
amount of material needed, right down to the foundation.
After years of testing different shapes, we found that the best shape, by
far, was the DecaDomeTM
with its ten vertical walls and ten roof panels. Unlike geodesic domes,
DecaDomesTM
have vertical walls which add to their comfort and utility and use standard
doors, windows and furniture.
NewHouse R & D is currently building units for domestic and export use.
We will be pleased to entertain co-venture or licensing agreements with clients
and material suppliers. Current clients include Greenfield Village and Henry
Ford Museum at Dearborn, Michigan, and the Grameen Foundation of Bangladesh. We
hold several patents and pending patents on panelized building systems.
